Although fashion is in the name, you can't go past the innovative beauty looks featured at Afterpay Australian Fashion Week. From the Blade Runner inspired hair at Daniel Avakian to the '90s grunge eyeshadow at Bec and Bridge, there was no shortage of contemporary beauty looks we can't wait to try out.
Luckily you don't need a backstage team to re-create the magic, as we've got the intel on how to mimic these iconic beauty looks from some of our favourite Australian designers.
The euphoria-esque eye makeup spotted at Mariam Seddiq really captured the audience as models sparkled under the runway lights. Harnessing the power of adhesive gems created by makeup artist Rowi Singh, artists also used metallic eyeshadow to create dramatic shapes, then finished off with a bold eyeliner and Modelrock lashes.
Bold colours, futuristic styles and cutting-edge tailoring were just some of the highlights from Daniel Avakian's Blade Runner inspired showcase. Redken Hair Director, Richard Kavanagh chose to create hero hairstyles with tight updos, gelled waves with a semi wet finish. To build the foundation of the hair, he started with Redken Guts 10 for volume then used Forceful 23 Hairspray to hold shape and went over with Shine Flash for a high-gloss finish.
Bec and Bridge provided us with a nostalgic '90s throwback, complete with a moody soundtrack, grunge-inspired makeup and androgynous silhouettes. Artists from Lancôme created a classic smoky eye using tones of cobalt, silver and black for a dramatic look that wouldn't be out of place in a hazy nightclub.
Romance Was Born collaborated with iconic Australian artist Ken Done for their latest collection, filled with vibrant colours, bold prints and textured pieces you just wanted to reach out and touch. GHD Hair Directors Dee Parker Attwood and Jason Fassbender, worked with their team to create a wet shiny and sleek look that evolved for each individual model. Starting with wet hair they used a tail comb to design the shape, then held it in place using bobby pins and hairspray and used a hairdryer to set the look ready for the runway.
